Parents and guardians, it is mandatory to have work ethic conversations with your young adults entering the workplace. Make sure they understand they need to honor their commitment by reporting to work when expected. Share your experiences and consequences as a result of your poor behaviors. Help them start off on the right foot—encourage them to get their clothes ready and pack their lunch the night before. If need be, make sure they wake up and leave for work on time. Make sure they dress and act appropriately for the workplace. Be your young adult’s advocate at home and make sure you practice what you preach! Even though they might be considered grown in age, they still need your help and guidance. Pass it on!
